Our organization: UWVThe UWV is enlisted with the government’s task of handling employee insurances. It is our task to make sure as many people as possible are able to continue to work or find paid labor as quickly as possible. For this, we offer a tailor made solution. If people do find themselves needing social security, we make sure this is arranged rapidly. UWV WERKbedrijf: An ever increasing amount of people working. One of the divisions inside the UWV is the so-called “WERKbedrijf” or, ‘work company’. UWV WERKbedrijf is a public service provider involved in all facets of the labor market. We cooperate with municipalities, employment agencies, re-integration offices, knowledge centers and other organizations, to help an ever increasing amount of people to find work. The WERKbedrijf thereby provides the link between public and private parties on a local, regional and national level. For employers the UWV provides an extensive service in the field of consulting, labor market information and branch service points. We also treat requests from employers for employment termination permits and work permits. UWV offers its service via so called Werkpleinen or ‘work squares’ (physical locations), internet (werk.nl) and telephone. Labor market informationUWV WERKbedrijf researches and analyses the labor market at a local, regional as well as national level. As a public service provider the WERKbedrijf reports on the results it has achieved. Next to that, the WERKbedrijf also offers you access to statistical information about the labor market. Besides information on a national level, we also publish labor market statistics per region. With, for example, statistics on job seekers and placements that are registered at the UWV WERKbedrijf, we can compile for you your own tailor made information package. On the basis of this information it will be easier for you to determine which region in the Netherlands is the most attractive for settlement. An example of regional labor market informationA company active in logistics wishes to set up business in the Netherlands. The company is not sure whether to choose the Rotterdam region or the Amsterdam region as a location to settle. The infrastructure of both regions is excellent with an airport, harbor and railway connection in the immediate vicinity. The point of contention in this case is whether there is sufficient experienced labor in the immediate area. To answer this question, UWV WERKbedrijf has, based on actual information, composed an oversight of the availability of personnel in both regions and the surrounding areas for the most essential job functions of the company.
We can also provide you with more specific information about other sectors and/or regions and information concerning supply and demand on the labor market. Work permitsAcquisition and employment of personnelWhen setting up a Dutch branch there is a requirement to try to fill the vacancies with local (i.e. Dutch/European) personnel to the best of your ability. UWV WERKbedrijf can assist in finding the right candidates. If you do not find local personnel for your positions, there is a possibility to request a work permit. The managerWhen a company sets up in the Netherlands, there is a possibility to appoint a manager from one’s home nation. Dutch law has certain provisions to govern this situation, we can provide you with more information on this topic. Conditions: Job placement for specialized functionsFor specialized functions, where there are no suitable candidates to be found in the Netherlands or the EU, Dutch legislation in certain circumstances offer the possibility to (temporarily) employ personnel from one’s home nation. Also for the training of locally acquired personnel temporary work permits can be granted.
